Amazon Opens Up Fulfillment Center In Papillion - Nebraska’s First Amazon Fulfillment Center

Nebraska’s first and giant Amazon “fulfillment center” has opened in Papillion. The company was secretive about its venture as the Papillion Planning Board approved the project under the code name Willa.
The size of the fulfillment center was previously reported to be around just 700,000. Recently, Amazon officials clarified the size of the facility, claiming that the size mentioned in the previous report was its ground-level footprint. He added that the structure’s actual size is approximately 1 million square feet.
The plant is expected to create at least 1000 jobs, excluding robots that work alongside humans to prepare items to be delivered to front porches. Thus, making a more efficient process to meet customer demand. Currently, the company is hiring for positions that start at $16.50 an hour with additional benefits.
The fulfillment center at Papillion is Amazon’s fifth operational location in the Omaha region. Other includes an Amazon Air Gateway operation that opened at Eppley Airfield in February 2022, two delivery stations in Papillion and Omaha, and a supplemental fulfillment center in Council Bluffs, Lowa.
According to the statement made by “Site Leader Aaron Schmidt,” “It is a milestone moment to experience the opening of Amazon’s first sortable fulfillment center in Nebraska. Also, looking forward to supporting customers in Papillion, Omaha, and other surrounding communities.”
